Will We See You At The DoDIIS Conference in Atlanta 1-3 August?

Bob Gourley

The Department of Defense Intelligence Information Systems (DoDIIS) Conference is in Atlanta next week. I’ll be attending seeking to connect with old friends, see new technology demonstrations and, more importantly, listen to people from across the intelligence community express their views on mission needs. This is an unclassified conference so I’ll work hard to capture what I learn and reflect that in our reporting here at CTOvision.

One of the very unique things about this conference is some of the greatest, most innovative elements in government IT will also be demonstrating technologies. This includes the Air Force Research Lab, NRO’s IC ITE Service Provider, and of course the Defense Intelligence Agency. The government-wide contract vehicle (GWAC) from NIH, NITAAC, will also be there and is definitely work talking to if you are a government executive (they are one of the fastest ways to tap into the capabilities of Cognitio).

The integrators that come to demonstrate at DoDIIS are all deserving of credit for seeking to serve this mission space, and some of them have been performing outstanding work for decades. It is always worth hitting the big booths of the major integrators to see their demos. I’ll be spending time with several of the larger firms, including Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, CSRA, SAIC, Liedos and Vencore for sure.

But increasingly the real innovation from industry is coming from smaller, more agile DoDIIS players like EagleRay, AugustSchell and Berico.  Axiologic Solutions is also one to watch and I would recommend anyone looking to innovate in this space track down Axiologic’s managing partner Tom Stauber.

The IT vendor community also comes out in force for this event. One of the hard things about the conference is deciding which of these vendors to spend time with. My recommendations: Hit the Carahsoft pavilion first! They always bring a great cadre of firms together. Then look for the new capabilities of Cray (talk to them about both analytics and cybersecurity), EutelSat America Corp, and SAP NS2. I am also looking forward to getting a first hand look at the capabilities of Nuix and Tintri.

(If you know of other hot technology firms that will be demonstrating new things there please let me know, but the above are the ones that jumped out at me so far).

I’ll also have my eyes and ears open for teaming discussions with others in industry and if you are in service to this community I would love to chat with you about ways Cognitio and you can work together. Corner me at DoDIIS or drop me a note and we can do some strategery.
